TS Banking Group began with a bold vision and a deep commitment to community. In 1978, Mick and Judy Guttau faced a pivotal moment in their lives. Mick, a Vietnam War Cobra helicopter pilot turned banker, and Judy, a marketing leader and community advocate, were raising young children and searching for a way to make a lasting impact. When the rare opportunity arose to purchase TS Bank, they seized it using the family farm as collateral and working side-by-side for over 40 years to transform a small-town bank into a catalyst for community prosperity.

TS Bank, originally chartered in 1923 with a mission to Ignite Prosperity® leads the resurgence of community banking by reinvesting 10% of its pre-tax income locally through sponsorships, nonprofits and financial wellness initiatives.

As the Guttau family grew, so did the vision. Their son, Josh, became CEO in 2008, continuing the tradition of mission-driven growth. Under his leadership, TS Banking Group expanded beyond Iowa, acquiring like-minded community banks and preserving their local touch while providing the strength of a multi-bank organization.

TS Bank: Founded in 1923, Iowa-based with $423M in assets and the largest Iowa state-chartered C-Corp trust department west of Des Moines with $213 assets under management, TS Bank serves southwest and central Iowa through branches in Treynor, Macedonia, Atlantic, Corning, Council Bluffs and Ames.

The Bank of Tioga: Serving North Dakota since 1951 with branches in Tioga and Crosby, acquired in 2014, with $411M in assets.

First National Bank and Trust Company: Serving Illinois since 1872, acquired in 2017, with $414M in assets. Now with branches in both Illinois and Wisconsin.
