Council Bluffs, IA, Feb. 3, 2017 – TS Ag Finance worked in collaboration with TS Bank and TS Prosperity Group to host an annual Ag Summit on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

The yearly event is a result of TS Bank's goal to promote financial literacy within the surrounding communities. Each year, the bank brings in a new topic and keynote speaker to the summit, an event that is free and open to the public.

With around 200 attendees in 2017, the event has seen growth in attendance and local business partners since its start over ten years ago. The 2017 event partners were: AgriVisionSireBartlett Grain Co., Pottawattamie County Corn and Soybean Growers AssociationHeartland Co-OpBungeIowa State University Extension and Outreach, and American Family Insurance - Travis Castle Agency.

"We live and work in an area that is agriculture focused," said Joshua M. Guttau, CEO of TS Bank. "For this reason, we host a summit specifically for those within the agriculture sector, to provide a resource for farmers to network and learn in a way that assists our local economy.”

This year's event consisted of a networking hour with partners, dinner, a presentation from the keynote speaker Dr. Ron Hanson, and an introduction to TS Prosperity Group - a new wealth management and trust division of TS Banking Group.

Dr. Hanson is a recently retired, distinguished professor of agribusiness at The University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has counseled with Nebraska farm families for more than 40 years to help them resolve family conflicts in a more positive manner and to improve family relations through better communications.

Dr. Hanson’s speech focused on farm business ownership succession and the transfer of management control between generations.

"Always remember that it is never too early for a family to begin this succession planning process," said Dr. Hanson. "Just do not make the mistake of waiting until it is too late and nothing can be done."

The 2017 Ag Summit was sponsored by TS Bank along with two of its divisions, TS Ag Finance and TS Prosperity Group.
