Name: Matt Saar
Job Title: Relationship Manager

Can you share your past experience and education prior to joining the TS Bank team?
I graduated from Iowa State University in 2009. At Iowa State, I was enrolled in the Business college, where I double majored in Marketing and Supply Chain Management. After graduation I started at Mutual of Omaha as a Claim Analyst, where I would review information related to insurance claims. I worked at Mutual of Omaha up until I began at TS Bank in 2014.

Could you tell us a little bit about your role at TS Bank?
I joined TS Bank as a Credit Analyst in 2014. In this role, I developed my understanding of agricultural finance and the Bank’s analysis practices. I transitioned into my current role as Relationship Manager with TS Ag Finance in 2015. The skills I learned as an analyst are integral to my role as a Relationship Manager as I am able to review financial information and identify strengths and areas in need of improvement. I am then able to assist the producer in continuing to develop these financial strengths or making improvements and changes, if necessary. As a Relationship Manager, I have the opportunity of going out on the farm and learning more about the producer’s operation and am able to work with the client to provide loan options that would be beneficial to them and their operation. As a member of TS Ag Finance, I am interested in doing what is best for the farmer and helping them grow their operation in any way I can.

Can you explain your connection to Treynor, IA specifically?
I grew up in the Treynor area and graduated from Treynor High School in 2005. The majority of my family still resides in this area. My family has been involved in agriculture for many generations and they continue to run a farming operation. I am currently in the process of building a home in Treynor and my family is excited to be a part of an excellent community.

Tell us about your family and/or what you like to do in your free time?
My wife, Beth and I were married in 2012 and had our first child, Benjamin, in 2014. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends as often as possible. As an Iowa State graduate, I closely follow Iowa State’s athletics programs and try to go to Ames a few times every year. I also enjoy bike riding and have participated in RAGBRAI in past years.
